SUMMARY:DC Villages Kick-Off Celebration
DESCRIPTION:We’re celebrating the launch of DC Villages with a kick-off event that will bring together members\, volunteers\, and ambassadors from Village communities across the District. Join us on Saturday\, September 28th\, as we enjoy an afternoon of great food\, a live jazz band\, and most importantly\, the opportunity to meet and connect with others in our city-wide Village community. Attendees will have the chance to learn more about the initiatives of DC Villages and how the Collaborative is helping to expand options at all stages of aging across the District. \nRSVP for the event via your village or visit https://forms.gle/KXxhjXGjbZJZCD6F9. Registration is now closed. \nThis outdoor event will be held in the parking lot of the Fillmore School Building\, which contains the Georgetown Village office and is located at 1801 34th St. NW\, Washington\, DC 20007. \nWe’ll kick off the celebration with a meet & greet from 12–1 p.m.\, followed by lunch and a DCVC leadership welcome from 1–2 p.m.\, a jazz concert from 2–3 p.m.\, and closing remarks from 3–3:30 p.m. \nThe live jazz band will feature jazz vocalist\, historian\, and native Washingtonian James Zimmerman\, who The Washington Post describes as “a singer who is deeply immersed in vocal jazz tradition. Zimmerman’s vocal fluency lends itself to audacious undertakings on the band stand.” Zimmerman’s répertoire is filled with gems that include the best of jazz standards\, blues\, bebop\, swing\, Broadway musicals\, and bossa nova\, interpreted with feeling including using vocalese and scat improvisation. \nWe look forward to seeing all of you and celebrating our community during this fun-filled afternoon! \nFrequently Asked Questions\n\nHow do I RSVP for the event?\nThis event is open to current DC Villages members\, volunteers\, ambassadors\, and partners.
