Rev. Dr. Kendrick E. Curry has been the Pastor of the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church in D.C. (Ward 7) for the past 21 years. Dr. Curry has led the church and at-large communities within D.C. in resolving social determinants of poverty and health to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods where they live. Dr. Curry earned a BS (Prairie View A&M University) and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (University of Michigan), as well as a Master of Divinity in Theology (Virginia Union University). He actively participates on numerous boards, panels, and working groups including the Greater Washington Urban League, Leadership Council for Healthy Communities, and the National Institutes of Health’s National Advisory Council for Minority Health and Health Disparities. Dr. Curry is an advocate for senior residents 50+ who desire to age in place. He is a former D.C. State President for AARP and an Executive Council Member. Dr. Curry is happily married to the Rev. Karen Curry, and they have two young adult children, Keyona and Kendrick II. In his free time, Rev. Curry loves reading, consulting small businesses, counseling others, and fine dining with friends.
